Basic Anatomy Flashcards
Three types under anatomy
Gross (Topography)
Histology (microscopic)
Embryology (development)
Gross anatomy (2)
Regional anatomy
System anatomy
Radiographic (addition)
Regional anatomy
- Study the specific part of the body (head , thorax)
- examine the multiple systemic structure within the region (bones, muscles)
Surface anatomy (part of regional )
Knowledge about what beneath the skin / palpable structures either body at rest or in action
Systemic anatomy
- study of body’s organ
- systems to carry out specific functions
- 12 systems
Systems ( systemic anatomy) (12)
Integumentary system
Skeletal system
Muscular system
Nervous system
Endocrine system
Circulatory system
Lymphatic system
Respiratory system
Digestive system
Urinary system
Male reproductive system
Female reproductive system
Body positions
- Anatomical position
- Others body position
Anatomical position
- Stand upright , with feet together ,toes point forward
- Hand by side, palms facing angteriorly, fingers straight /together
- pad of thumbs turned 90° to the pads of fingers
-face looking forward, mouth close, neutral facial expression, eyes open *
Others body positon
Supine (lying on the back)
Prone (lying face down)
Right lateral recumbent (lying right side)
left lateral recumbent (lying left side)
lithotomy (lying supine with the knee and hips flexed *
Anatomical plane
Is a hypnothetical plane used to transect the body to describe the location of structures
Major groups of anatomical planes (3)
Coronal
Sagittal transverse –> Median sagittal plane
Transverse / axial / horizontal
coronal
side to side ( cut the body anterior and posterior)
sagittal
divide into right and left
- Median sagittal plane ( divide body equally into right and left)
Transverse
divide body into superior and inferior
Sections of the body
Longitudinal
Transverse
Oblique
