They wanted it as real and dramatic as possible. There was an emphasis on drama, ⭐️EMOTION, extreme and high trend emotion

They wanted to use instrumental music; but as an accompaniment to the vocals. “New emphasis on chords”.
What type of singing style/s were born during this period?
An opera, but also an orantorio or a cantata.
What does “Basso Continuo” mean?
Continuous bass. It was a low bass part and accompanied music (usually played by 2 instruments)
