Q
How does banquo act to the witches prophecies
A
Act 1 scene 3
‘What can the devil speak true’
Shock at macbeth becoming thane of cawdor
Religious imagery shows his distrust
He refuses to believe they are telling the truth and instead believes they are trying to corrupt him as the snake corrupted eve
Contrasts macbeth who in response to becoming thane of cawdor says ‘Do you not hope your children shall be kings’
This shows how macbeth fully believes in the witches prophecies, and he has been corrupted by evil
