Steam is supplied at constant 14 Bar from the Auxiliary Steam System to the Gland Steam Supply Manifold. This the passes through cascade trim valves to both the Generator turbine shaft gland pockets and Main turbine gland pockets.

What is the function of the Main Machinery Raft?
The MMR carries the main propulsion and power generation machinery and also forms the bottom half of the main gearbox. These are mounted of residual modules which reduce noise transmission.

5 blade impeller mounted directly onto the rotor of a canned two speed AC induction motor contained within a motor casing.
A filtered water supply from the clean sea water system is piped via isolation valve to the motor casing. This cools and maintains an internal pressure which prevents water coming in.
