Bandwith and Latency Flashcards
What is Band?
Bandwidth is the amount of data packets transferred from one location to another.
What is Latency?
latency, ping time, or ping rate, is the time data travels from one location to another.
How do we measure Band with?
bits per second (bps)
What is Bandwidth Of A Cat5e Cable?
Cat5e provides a bandwidth of 100MHz performance, though cables are available with up to 350MHz capabilities.
What is extend time complexity?
Time complexity, a description of how much computer time is required to run an algorithm.
The three types of time complexity?
Big O Notation
The worst case scenario
Big Ω Notation
The best case scenario
Big Θ Notation
The average case scenario
What affects Band with?
We are used to working with Cat5e which has a maximum bandwidth of 1Gbps however other categories have a different rating.
For example, Cat6 is rated for 1Gbps for a longer range than Cat5e but can also do 10Gbps at shorter distances (55 meters).
What affects Band with cable?
Network congestion
Number of devices
Peak times
Activities
Wireless Interference
What is Bandwith Signal Frequency?
This is because bandwidth is directly linked to how well the cable can carry high-frequency signals.
Cat5e for example works at 100MHz which means that every second, a Cat5e cable can transmit 100,000,000 bits of information.
Whereas Cat6 works at 250MHz which in turn equates to 250,000,000 bits of information per second.
