Bandol AOC: General
A
- red wines , rose now most common style
- South facing slopes protected from the wind. Steep slopes are terraced to avoid erosion
- Rocky limestone and clay with low fertility
- Mostly Mouvedre . Red must be 50-95% and aged in oak for 18 months
- Rose must be 20-95% Mouvedre

Bandol: Other appellations
A
Small histoic towns of Bellet AOC, Cassis AOC, Palette AOC - Appellations on the coast with pressure from builders to sell . Most wine is sold to local tourists
1955 Cru Classes status was granted to 23 estates of which 18 remain.

- Provences rose wine sales are mostly sold in France 58% , in supermarkets. 43 % exported to US , UK and Netherlands
- France is the 1 consumer of Rose in the world , not only drinking French but importing from Spain.
- Almost half of exports go to USA
- wines are marketed with a stromd reference to lifestyle and aslo celebrity status .
- 50% co-ops and 40% private owned wineries
