EU wanted to trade with Caribbean but the TNC’s thought that was unfair and the US thought this was unfair and increased taxes on wine and whiskey from EU.
The US got WTO involved which created a solution and stopped EU and UK not buying bananas from TNC which meant the Caribbeans would struggle

- loss of land and bananas-debt
- 30% of farmers turned to growing weed which is illegal
