No atoms can be created or destroyed during a chemical reaction

Why might the mass of a substance decrease after a chemical reaction?
A
If a gas is formed, some of it might escape from the flask therefore the mass will decrease.

Why might the mass of a substance increases after a chemical reaction?
A
If a solid is created, the mass might increase because a solid has a mass. Also, if it goes from a gas to a solid, a gas is weightless so it doesn’t contribute to the mass change, only the solid.
