Accesoria
The space at the ground level adjacent to the street that utilize for commercial purposes such as keeping goods for retail sale.
Tienda
The space after the entrance, that serves as transition to the entrance and the grand stairs to the upper floor that serves as the storage for carriages.
Zaguan (entrance hall)
An enclosed room or area where things are stored.
Bodega
An enclosed masonry structure for storing water for household and other uses.
Aljibe/Algibe (cistern)
A service room adjacent to the kusina(kitchen) and komedor(dining) for storing food supplies and other provisions.
Dispensa (pantry)
The space adjacent to the kusina, where meals are served.
Comedor (dining)
A room where food is prepared and cooked.
Cocina
A room with latrina, a receptacle for human waste where ash from the kusina is poured to eliminate the odor
Cubeta
The central room in a filipino house, often facing the street or plaza and is used as the family’s leisure and social activites room
Sala
A room usually adjacent to the sala, with kama, tokador(dresser), aparador (cabinet), and mesa (table).
Cuarto
A transition space right after the stairs, leading to sala or to komedor. Kaida is from the spanish verb “caer” (to fall) and it said to be a place where ladies let their trains fall.
Caida
The flat roof of the alhibe (cistern) usually at the back of the kusina, and is used as an elevated outdoor terrace or seevice area.
Azotea
A room intended for washing or bathing.
