Epidermolytic toxin such as in SSSS or bullous impetigo
SSSS = Staphylococcus-Scalded Skin Syndrome
Is beta hemolytic strep a normal part of our flora?
No, we get it by breaks in the skin
- Primary -> innoculation
- 2ndary -> bites, scabies
How do we get beta hemolytic strep infections?
Papules, vesicles, and pustules that rapidly break down to form golden adherent crusts; often located on the face or extremities, heals without scarring
Non-bullous Impetigo
“Punched-out” necrotic ulcers that heals slowly, leaving a scar
Eccthyma
Flaccid, fluid-filled bullae that rupture and leave a thin brown crust; often located on the trunk, heals without scarring
