backup methods Flashcards
Full backup
copying all data from primary to secondary storage
simple, suitable for small data volumes
time consuming, needs a lot of space
incremental backup
copies only the data that has changed since the last backup
more efficient for time & storage
faster backups
ideal for small companies, pracitical for daily or frequent backups
differential backups
coppies all data that as changed since the last backup
quicker than full, and simpler to restore than incremental
requires more storage spave and time, less than full backups
balance between backup time and ease of restoration, small to medium sized data sets
External hard drives
portable, high storage capacity, cost effective
Not durable
ideal for local backups
