During a routine service maintenance, a customer stated that he has a hard time seeing the warning lights for the Audi side assist system.
Demonstrate and describe the procedure for adjusting the brightness of these lights.
The Audi Side assist system LED brightness is an adjustable setting for the customer. It is adjusted using the MMI interface using the following menu: select CAR- select SETUP- select SIDE ASSIST. While adjusting the brightness level, the LED’s on the mirrors will change brightness to the customers desired brightness level.
A CEO’s company-owned A6 is used occasionally by employees during working hours for business purposes.
What can the he do to prevent the download of his Contacts from the MMI?
Contact downloading is a customer configurable setting in the Audi A6. It is configured be adjusting the telephone profile in the telephone menu of the MMI. Deselect automatic contact downloading from the menu to prevent unwanted contact downloads.
A diplomat from Germany is leasing an A7 to use during his stay in Washington, D.C. He is continually annoyed by the difference in the month/day/year format on the MMI display.
Demonstrate and describe the procedure for changing it to day/month/year.
European standard date format list the day/ month/ and year. The vehicles date format is configurable to the customers’ specifications. It is adjusted through the MMI interface, by selecting MENU- select TIME- select FORMAT.
A valued customer has brought his A7 in for a scheduled maintenance. He mentions that it seems to take a long time for the automatic lights to come on when he’s entering a tunnel on his way to work.
What can you do to help this customer?
Audi provides the customer a configurable way to prevent automatic headlights from coming on automatically too quickly. Using the MMI interface, select CAR- select VEHICLE SETTING- select EXTERIOR LIGHTING- select AUTO HEADLIGHTS. From this screen the customer can adjust the amount of time until the automatic headlights illuminate.
A customer says he can’t open the rear trunk lid of his A7 with the soft-touch button on the trunk lid but he can on his brother’s A7.
What could be the possible causes for this?
The rear trunk lid operation is configurable by the customer to their personal preference. To adjust the rear trunk lid operation use the following menus. Select CAR- select VEHICLE SETTINGS- select CENTRAL LOCKING- select LOCK EXTERIOR TRUNK HANDLE.
A customer with an A6 says he has difficulty seeing the Head-up display during the day time.
How can you help this customer?
The head up display brightness level can be adjusted in two ways:
First, the height of the optical display can be adjusted by using the rotary knob on the left side of the instrument panel near the headlight switch. This adjustment must be made anytime the customer adjusted their seat settings, to make sure the display is in the correct driving position.
Secondly, The brightness can be adjusted using the MMI interface by following the menu links. Select CAR- select DRIVER ASSIST- select HEAD UP DISPLAY- select DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS. Adjust the brightness level to the customer’s specification.
The playback quality of an A8 owner’s favorite CD of downloaded music has poor sound quality.
What could be the possible cause or causes?
Customer complaints of sound quality are subjective, and should always be tested using the music that caused the complaint if possible. Using a known good music source verify the proper operation of the vehicle entertainment system. If the system is found to be operating properly, the customers sound source files can be checked using a laptop to verify the sound quality of the sound files on the disk. Sound files should be 256 kBit/s or higher for proper sound quality.
A customer has loaned his 2012 A7 to his brother from Mexico.
Describe the path to change the language setting in the MMI.
The MMI language can be adjusted to the customers required language. In this case the customer would like to change the language to Mexican Spanish. It can be adjusted by: select MENU- select SETUP MMI- select LANGUAGE.
While picking up a customer’s A7 at his home for a scheduled maintenance, the owner mentions that his grandson got finger prints all over the MMI display and he needs to know what the best way to clean it is.
What is the recommended method for cleaning the MMI display?
Audi recommends cleaning the MMI’s LCD display by using a soft cloth, and cleaner designed for computer or LCD displays.
An A7 owner thinks the compass display in the rear view mirror is not correct. He has done the calibration sequence numerous times but it is not accurate.
What could be preventing the customer from getting the desired results?
The Audi A7 is not fitted with a compass in the rearview mirror, and as such can not be adjusted or calibrated. Travel direction can be monitored using the navigation function, and is based off GPS satellite signals.
A 2012 A6 customer from Wichita is having an issue with the voice recognition system. Each time he says the word “Kansas,” the system interprets it as “Cancel”.
How would you help this customer?
The voice recognition system has a function to learn words to compensate for different accents, and voice inflections. This allows a customer to adapt the system to his or her specific accent. To teach the system to the customers voice, use the following. Select SETUP- select VOICE RECOGNITION- select INDIVIDUAL TRAINING. The customer can now follow the on screen prompts to teach the vehicle their voice.
An A6 customer calls your dealership because he’s having problems with his vehicle key.
How do you explain to the customer to check the key battery?
The remote key battery can be easily be checked by the customer. If the LED on the remote key illuminates while pressing any button on the remote, the battery is in a good battery level. If the LED does not illuminate, the battery should be replaced prior to attempting any further remote key operation diagnosis.
One of your valued customers has a large music collection that he cannot download to Jukebox from his 40 gigabyte hard drive.
What could the problem be for this customer?
The Jukebox file storage size maximum is 20 gigabytes. The customer would need to choose which files he wants to transfer to a size below 20 gigabytes, and retry.
The teenage son of an A6 owner has changed all the Navigation settings while driving his dad’s car.
How can he return it to the factory settings without resetting all the other MMI features?
The customer can easily return the MMI to factory settings by using the following menus. Select SETUP- select SETTINGS- select DEFAULT SETTINGS.
A valued customer tells you that the clock on his A6 didn’t change from daylight savings time automatically and now the time needs to be reset.
Demonstrate and describe the path to setting the clock manually.
Daylight Savings Time is a user configurable item that can be adjusted using the TIME menu. A user can also manually adjust the time in the same way that they would set time initially. Select MENU- select TIME. The time can then be adjusted to correct daylight savings time, and also to activate automatic daylight savings time adjustment.
