Describe the river Jordan
It runs from the uplands of Galilee into the Sea of Galilee, then through the Rift Valley and into the Dead Sea. It splits palenstine down the middle

Why were the tax collectors hated (3)
- they worked for the roman government, and therefore were regarded as traitors
- they had a reputation of being dishonest, they would tax people more than what they needed
- they were not able to give money to charities because the money was regarded as unclean

It contains the Torah, which was given by god to Moses on mount Sinai, this was extremely important to Jews
