Origin: Lateral head from lateral surface of condyle of femur
Medial head from the popliteal surface of the femur and adjoining posteriosuperior aspect of the medial condyle of the femur
Insertion : middle one third of the posterior surface of the calcaneus via tendocalcaneus
Soleus
Origin : soleal line and middle one third of medial border of tibia
Insertion : middle one third of the posterior surface of the calcaneus via tendoncalcaneus
Plantaris
Origin : lower part of the lateral supracondylar line, oblique popliteal ligament
Insertion: middle one third of the posterior surface of calcareous
Popliteus
Origin : anterior part of popliteal groove on the lateral condyle of femur
Insertion :medial two third of the triangular area above the soleal line on the posterior surface of tibia
Popliteus
Origin : anterior part of popliteal groove on the lateral condyle of femur
Insertion :medial two third of the triangular area above the soleal line on the posterior surface of tibia
Action of popliteus
Unlocks the locked knee
Flexor digitorum longus
Origin :Upper two third of the medial part of the posterior surface of tibia below the soleal
Insertion : plantar surface of the base of distal phalanges of the lateral four toes
Flexor hallucis longus
Origin : Lower three fourth of the posterior surface of the shaft of fibula
Insertion: plantar surface of distal phalanx of the great toe
Tibialis posterior
Origin : upper two third of the lateral part of the posterior surface of the tibia below the soleal line , upper two third of the posterior surface of the interosseus membrane
Insertion: tuberosity of navicular bone
