Back I Flashcards
The back muscle is divided into ?
Extrinsic and intrinsic muscle
What are the 5 Extrinsic muscle
-Trapezius
-Latissimus Dorsi
-Rhomboid minor &major
-Levator scapulae
-Posterior, superior, inferior - serratus
Origin, nerve, Trapezius muscle
Start from occipital bone extends to C1- T12,continues to the scapula (posterior shoulder)
Cranial nerve XI (assesory nerve)
Origin, nerve of Latissimus Dorsi muscle
spines of T7-L5, to iliac crest thoracolumbar fascia, inferior 3-4 ribs. largest muscle of the body
Nerve- thoracodorsal nerve
Latissimus dorsi innervates what nerve
thoracodorsal nerve
Origin, nerve of Rhomboid minor and major
rhomboid minor from C7 &T1; rhomboid major from T2-T5).
Rhomboid minor and major innervates what nerve
dorsal scapula
Levator Scapulae innervates what nerve
transverse process of c1-c4
Nerve: dorsal scapular
Posterior superior sarratus innervates what nerve and what is the function
Ventral rami (uper thorax)
elevates ribs
Posterior inferior serratus innervates what nerve and what is the action
Ventral rami (lower thorax)
Depresses ribs
elevates, retracts and superiorly rotates scapula to face the glenoid cavity skyward (needed for full aBduction of the arm); can also depress the scapula
Trapezius muscle
adducts, extends and medially rotates the humerus (e.g. picture the power stroke of swimming)
Latissimus Dorsi
elevates scapula (or inclines neck if scapula is fixed)
Levator scapulae
adduct and rotate and retract scapula
Rhomboid minor and major
