Back Flashcards
What are the attachments of the erector spinae muscles?
From sacrum, lumbar and thoracic supraspinous ligament, and sacrotuberous ligament, to costal angles (iliocostalis), ribs and transverse processes (longissimus), and spinous processes (spinalis)
What are the actions of the erector spinae muscles?
extension, and lateral flexion of the vertebral column
What innervates the erector spinae muscles?
dorsal rami or spinal nerves
What provides blood to the erector spinae muscles?
SILLS: Subcostal, Intercostal, Lumbar, and Lateral sacral arteries
What are the attachments of the semispinalis (transversospinalis) muscle?
From transverse processes to distant superior spinous processes
What are the actions of the semispinalis (transversospinalis) muscle?
Extension and contralateral rotation of the vertebral column
What innervates the semispinalis (transversospinalis) muscle?
dorsal rami or spinal nerves
What provides blood to the semispinalis (transversospinalis) muscle?
SILLS: Subcostal, Intercostal, Lumbar, and Lateral Sacral arteries
What are the attachments of the multifidus and rotatores?
From transverse process to more superior spinous processes.
What are the actions of the multifidus and rotatores?
stabilizes vertebrae, and assists with extension and rotation of the vertebral column
What innervates the multifidus and rotatores?
Dorsal rami of spinal nerves
What provides blood to the multifidus and rotatores?
SILLS: Subcostal, Intercostal, Lumbar, and Lateral Sacral arteries
