Back Flashcards
Origin of Latissimus Dorsi
Supraspinous ligament from T3 caudally via thoracolumbar fascia
Insertion of latissimus Doris
Teres major tuberosity with the teres major muscle tendon
Action of latissimus Doris
Draws the thoracic limb caudally; flexor of the shoulder joint; with limb fixed, draws the trunk forward
Innervation of latissimus Doris
Thoracodorsal nerve
Origin of iliocostalis
Cervicis part: between the transverse processes of C4 and T1 and first rib
Thoracic part: lumbar transverse processes and fleshy from cranial border of ribs
Insertion of illiocostalis
Angles of ribs 1-15 and transverse process of C7
Action of iliocostalis
Stabilizes lumbar vertebrae and ribs; extends vertebral column and bends it laterally; may function in expiration
Innervation of iliocostalis
Dorsal branches of local spinal nerves
Origin of longissimus Dorsi
Spinous processes of sacrum, lumbar and thoracic vertebrae; wing of ilium; transverse processes of thoracic and cervical vertebrae
Insertion of longissimus dorsi
Transverse processes of vertebrae; tubercles of ribs; wing of atlas; and mastoid process of temporal bone
Action of longissimus dorsi
Stabilizes and extends vertebral column; elevates or bends head and neck laterally
Innervation of longissimus dorsi
Dorsal branches of local spinal nerves
