Questions to ask parents before starting baby check
A
- Has the baby passed meconium?
- Is the baby feeding ok?
- Is there a family history of congenital heart, eye or hips problems?

Examination of the head
A
- Anterior fontanelles
- Red reflex using an opthalmoscope
- Put your little finger in their mouth test their suckling reflex and feel their pallet all the way back, checking for a cleft pallet
