List 8 rules to be remembered by BA wearer to enable proficient operation of BA Entry Control?

  1. BA is only to be worn on instruction from the Incident Commander.
  2. Ensure that they fully understand their brief, tasks instructions, where and how they are required to enter the risk area, any identified hazards and say any limitations on the duration of wear as determined by the person responsible for the BA entry control point.
  3. On instruction from the person responsible for the BA Entry Control Point, start up the BA Set, complete the pre-entry checks and proceed to the BA Entry control point.
  4. Carry out Comms, check prior to going under air, including Team Talk, and push to talk.
  5. Ensure an adequate face seal is established in safe air.
  6. Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment is worn correctly.
  7. Approach BA Entry Control (in full PPE) holding DDU with key in. Turn Around Pressure (TAP) will be reset by BAECO before entering the risk area.
  8. Ensure their Talley is placed in the BA Entry Control Board with the ‘time-in’ section completed the BA Entry Control Operative before entering the risk area.
  9. Check firefighting equipment by operation before entering the risk area.
  10. Always carry out safe movement and search and rescue techniques, maintaining close personal contact between wearers
