Q

What are Wide Chord blade good for?

A

A way to extract more thrust for a given fan area. Widening the chord will increase drag while longer will increase tip speed and noise.
Wide chord has fewer but more effective blades. To keep weight down they are usually hollow and made of titanium.
They are given a Scimtar shape which means they are curved, like sword blades to achive higher flying speeds.
