B.3 (Eukaryotic And Prokaryotic Cells) Flashcards
What is the difference between Eukaryotic Cells and Prokaryotic Cells
In prokaryotic cells, the true nucleus is absent, moreover, membrane-bound organelles are present only in eukaryotic cells
What is the importance of these Cells?
They play a critical role in the recycling of nutrients by decomposing dead organisms and allowing their nutrients to be re-used
What is an Eukaryote?
Any Cell or Organism that possesses a cearly definded Nucleus
What is a Prokaeyotic
A Single Cell organism that lacks a Nucleus
Are humans Eukrayotic or Prokrayotic?
Eukrayotic
Is Bacteria Eukaryotic or Prokaryotic?
Prokaryotic
What is the function of a Eukaryotic Cell
Energy Production or Photosynthesis depending on the Animal
What is the function of a Prokarytic Cell?
Reprodution
Who discoverd Eukaryotic Cells?
Lynn Margulis
Who discovered Prokrayotic Cells?
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek and Robert Hook
