B2 Cells Flashcards
Difference between plant and animal cells
Plant has chloroplasts, vacuoles, and cell wall
What happens in ribosomes
Where proteins are made
What happens in mitochondria
Where respiration happens
What does the nucleus do
controls activities of the cell and contains genetic material. Also has instructions to make new cells or new organisms
What is the purpose of the vacuole
It contains cell sap, helps keep the cell rigid.
What happens in chloroplasts?
Photosynthesis, only in green parts of the plant, green is chlorophyll
What is the cell wall
surrounds the cell. Made of cellulose, makes the wall rigid and supports the cell.
How are new cells created
Division of existing cells
What is the structure of a bacteria cell
cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, circular DNA, plasmids
What do ciliated cells do
movement of mucus in the trachea
What do root hair cells do
absorb water from the ground
what do palisade mesophyll cells do
Lots of photosynthesis
What do nuerones do
conduction of electronical impulses
