B.1.2 Types of cells Flashcards
What sub-cellular structures are found inside Bacterial cells?
Cell Wall, Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Flagella and Plasmids.
What do the Cell Wall and Membrane do in a prokaryotic cell?
Provide structure.
What does the Cytoplasm do in a prokaryotic cell?
It is where most of a cells chemical reactions take place.
What does the Flagella do in a prokaryotic cell?
it is a whip like structure used for movement.
What do Plasmids do in a prokaryotic cell?
They are small rings of DNA.
What structures are found inside an animal cell?
Cell membrane, Ribosomes, Nucleus Mitochondria and Cytoplasm.
What does the Cell Membrane do in an animal cell?
Seperates the inside of a cell from the outside environment.
What does the nucleus do in an animal cell?
It contains the chromosomes(cells genetic material).
What do the Ribosomes do in an animal cell?
They are responsible for synthesising proteins.
What do the mitochondria do in an animal cell?
They contain enzymes for aerobic respiration.
What does cytoplasm do in an animal cell?
Most of a cells reactions take place there.
What structures are found in a plant cell?
Permanent vacuole Chloroplasts and the cell wall.
What does a permanent vacuole do in a plant cell?
It stores water in a plant.
What do chloroplasts do in a plant cell?
They contain chlorophyll for photosynthesis.
What does the cell wall do in a plant cell?
It increases the structural strength of a cell.
