B1.2 - Animal and Plant cells Flashcards
What are the parts of a animal cell?
Nucleus Cytoplasm Cell Membrane Mitochondria Ribosomes
What are the parts of a Plant cell?
Nucleus Cytoplasm Cell Membrane Mitochondria Ribosomes Cell Wall Chloroplasts Vacuole
What does the Nucleus do?
Controls genetic information inside the cell
What is Cytoplasm?
A liquid gel where organelles are suspended and where many chemical reactions take place
What does the Cell Membrane do?
Controls the movement of the cell
What does the Mitochondria do?
Where energy is transferred during aerobic respiration
What does the Ribosomes do?
Is where Protein synthesis takes place
What does the Cell wall do?
Keeps the plant cell a rigid shape.
What is the Cell Wall made of?
Cellulose
What do the Chloroplasts do?
Absorb Sunlight for photosynthesis
What is contained in the Chloroplasts
Chlorophyll
What does the Permanent vacuole do?
Contains cell sap, which keeps the cell rigid and supports the plant
