B1.2 Flashcards
The activity of enzymes is affected by
Temperature, PH, and substrate concentration
Catalysts increases the
Rate of specific reactions in living organisms
Where is DNA
In the nucleus, contained in the structures called chromosomes
A gene is
A small section of a DNA that codes for a amino acid
Non coding parts of a gene can
Switch genes on and off
The two stages in making a protein
Transcription and translation
Enzyme’s active size will denature if
Temperature too high or PH is too high/low
Example of enzymes datalyse is
Digestive enzymes, speeds up, large insoluble food molecules into smol soluble so it can be absorbed into bloodstream
Codon
A sequence of 3 bases
Which strand is used to make the MRNA?
Template (non coding) strand
MRNA contains
A,U,G,C
The process of making a protein is
In transcription MRNA is created from binding to DNA template strand and copying the gene and is complimentary to the DNA, with A U G C complimentary to DNA’s T A C G, mRNA moves out of nucleus and goes to ribosome and binds with it. I’m translation, tRNA which contains a amino acid and is complimentary to the mRNA bases, it pairs up with the mRNA and forms a amino acid chain which folds to create a protein
