what is the 1 chemical form of contraception?

How does the pill work?
contains oestrogen and progesterone and inhibits production of FSH so no eggs will mature. Also stops the development of the lining preventing implantation.
Side effects of the pill?
raised blood pressure, thrombosis and breast cancer
How does the progesterone pill?
Works similar to pill with fewer side effects. If missed an egg could be unexpectedly released
What does the contraceptive implant?
tiny tube inserted under the skin and slowly releases progesterone
What do contraceptive injections involve?
Injections of progesterone that lasts for 12 weeks.
what does the contraceptive patch involve?
contains a mix of hormones stuck to skin and replaced every 7 days.
is spermicide effective?
no
what are condoms?
thin latex sheath that goes over penis before intercourse to collect sperm. Can also prevent STDs but if gets damaged then the sperm can get through.
How does the diaphragm or cap work?
the rubber cap is placed over the cervix before intercourse that prevents entry of sperm
what are intrauterine devices?
small structures inserted into the uterus by doctor, last 3-5 years though can be removed at any time by a doctor. It is very effective but may cause period problems and infections
what is a vasectomy?
the sperm ducts are cut and tied preventing sperm in semen
What is female sterilisation?
Oviducts are cut and tied preventing egg reaching the uterus.
