B1 & B2 Key Word Flashcards
Magnification
Is making small objects seem larger through a microscope.
Resolution
Is to see a detailed image through a microscope by changing the resolution
IAM triangle
Is a magnification equation triangle
I - stands for image size
A - stands for actual size
M - magnification
This is used to calculate magnification or actual size
Nucleus
The nucleus has a genetic material and controls how the cell works this can be found in an animal and plant cell
Cytoplasm
Where most chemical reaction happens. Some chemical reactions that happen are called glycolysis, which is a part of cellular respiration. This can be found in animal and plant cells
Cell membrane
The cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell and transports various materials for us to survive by separating the materials that are bad for us and the materials that are good for us. This can be found in animal and plant cells.
Mitochondria
Where most aerobic respiration happens. Respiration transfers energy that the cell needs to work. Such as they take in nutrients and brake them down and create energy. This can be found in animal and plant cells
Ribosomes
These are where proteins are made in the cell. They convert genetic code from the DNA into amino acid and to build proteins. This can be found in animal and plant cells
Cell wall
Is made of cellulose which is an insoluble substance. It supports the cell and strengthens it. When a plant drinks water it is strong and rigid. When the plant has no water it becomes weak and floppy because they have no water. If humans had cell walls then we would all be stiff. Can only be found in plant cells
Vacuole
They store food or any variety of nutrients a cell might need to survive. Can be found in plant and animal cells
Chloroplast
Chloroplasts absorb sunlight and use it with water and carbon dioxide gas to produce food for the plant so it can live. This can be found in only plant cells
Eukaryotic cells
Are cells that are complex both animal and plant cell are eukaryotic cells
Prokaryotic cells
Are small and simple cells, bacterias are prokaryotic cells
