Q

What is an electron microscope used for?

A

Electron microscopes allow us to see objects in much more detail such as Mitochondria’s internal structure. This gives a understanding of sub cellular structures

Q

What are the main pieces of microscopes and what are their uses?

A

Eyepiece lens- see the object through the lens.
Objective lens- see the object in much more magnification.
Stage- supports the slide into
Place.
Handle- to carry the microscope.
Clips- to hold the slide in place.
Lamp- shines light through the slide.
Focusing knobs- move the stage up and down to being imagine in focus.

16
Q

What is photosynthesis?

A

Green plants and other organisms use sunlight to synthesise nutrients from carbon dioxide and water.

17
Q

Where does photosynthesis happen?

A

Inside chloroplast. Where it contains chlorophyll which absorbs light.

18
Q

What type of reaction is photosynthesis?

A

Endothermic

19
Q

What are the two main stages of photosynthesis?

A

Stage 1: energy transferred by light, using to split water into oxygen, gas and hydrogen ions.
Stage 2: carbon dioxide gas combines with hydrogen ions to make glucose.

20
Q

What is the equation for Photosynthesis?

A

Carbon dioxide+water->glucose + oxygen

6CO2 + 6H20—> C6H12O6+ 6O2
