Behaviorist Manifesto
Watson’s 1913 paper that argues for a behaviorist approach to psychology
Behavioral environment
For the gestaltists, this referred to the environment as perceived, as contrasted with the physical environment (the geographical environment)
Bell-Magendie law
A statement that the posterior roots of the spinal cord controlled sensation, while the anterior roots controlled motor movement; sometimes considered an example of a “multiple”
Binocular vision
Vision involving the use of two eyes; aids in depth perception

Abbreviation of “binary digit”; the amount of information that enables a choice between two alternatives.
Bloodletting
Medical technique promoted by Benhamin Rush; drawing blood was believed to relieve, among other things, mental disorders brought about by excessive tension in the circulatory system
Brass instrument psychology
Term used (sarcastically) by William James to describe the German reaction time and psychophysics research, which relied heavily on apparatus made of brass
