Q

B cells

A
  • each has their own specific antibody
  • so the B cell with the complementary antibody will form an antigen-antibody complex
  • so the right B cell is activated
  • that B cell will then clone its self to form many plasma cells

Q

clonal selection

A

means that only the B cell which forms the antigen-antibody complex will divide so the response is specific

Q

what do plasma cells do?

A
  • make monoclonal antibodies -> forming A-A complex
  • this sticks pathogens together (agglutination)
  • so phagocytes can destroy many pathogens at once
  • after the infection is over, plasma cells are saved as memory cellls
