What is Ayurveda
Body has the capacity to heal itself when you give the body the right environment, and all systems works in balance.
What are the five great element of Ayurveda?
All found in nature
These are
Ether - light
Air
Fire
Water
Earth
What is earth in Sanskrit and what are the qualities?
Prithvi
Dry, stable, dense
Made out of five senses - taste , touch smell, sound and sight
Muscles , bones, teeth and cells and tissue.
Stability is important to have healthy body.
Ether is
Akasa
It is light , dry, cold spacious
Sound and vibration
Air is
Pavana / Vayu
Mobile, changeable, light , dry
Correlated to the lungs and kidneys and skin.
Most important aspect of pranayama
Water is
Jala
Fluid , heavy, soft
Blood, water, lymph
Fire is
Agni
Hot and sharp
Fundamental in digestion.
Metabolism is important for energy
When the fire is healthy, better concentration, mental focus and clarity.
What is Panchakarma
Refers to five different cleansing and detoxifying procedures of Ayurveda particularly for immune and digestive system.
Pancha - five,
Karma - action.
What is Ojas ?
Vigour of life . Is both gateway and the container.
Gateway between conciousness and physiology’s between spiritual and material.
It contains the flow of cosmic energy (prana)
Boosted immune system and digestive system
Factors that increases ojas :
Behaviour
Devosion
And ojas increasing good
What is Tejas
Radiance
Inner radiance - white area of the eyes are really white and skin and soft/smooth.
What is Prana?
Life force that’s found in all beings.
What is Agni?
Digestive fire is one of the most important principle in Ayurveda.
How we digest our experiences, relationships, working and family life.
Ideally don’t drink water in between meals to keep the gut fire presence.
What is Ama?
Toxic byproducts created due to improper or incomplete digestion . Slow deterioration of the mind and body that leads to dis ease .
What is Vata Dosa?
Governs how the nerves response to nutrition . How the nervous system correlates with the brain.
People who are Vata dosa finds challenging to gain weight, very little energy reserved . Tired easily when imbalanced.
Need to get sufficient rest.
Controls movement - movement of the body and musckeleskeletal system
Painful menstruation.
Vata dosa leads to other Dosas.
Most diseases are Vata based. When Vata is in balance Pita and Kapha are also in balance as well.
What is Pitta Dosa?
Pitta transform food into nourishment to the body , that again leads to systemic health and balance
When Pitta is in balance, the person is driven, courageous.
When out of balance - anger, reflux in the body.
Fire element, doesn’t do well with fire food. Lighter meal. Chewing food well.
