Adrenal axis
A
Hypothalamus releases corticotrophin release hormone (CRH).
This stimulates the anterior pituitary to release adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH).
This in turn stimulates the adrenal gland to release cortisol (from zona fasciculata) .
