Axiomatic Basis of Switching Algebra Flashcards
What are the basis of switching algebra?
Huntington’s axioms, used to perform analysis of Combinational Logic Theory
What does a truth table do?
list all input variable combinations and specifies the output for each input combination
What does a Karnaugh map do?
offeres a preferable graphic alternative to algebraic simplification
What do canonical forms do?
facilitate assembly of switching function elements into specific logic functions.
Objective: build bridges that allow you to move to and from switching equations, truth tables, and Karnaugh Maps.
Repeat
Logic Design starts with an informal word description. The challenge, however, is what?
to convert the informal description to a formal description so that you can proceed to synthesize a solution (logic circuit)
What is Axiom 1?
Commutation
What is Axiom 2?
Distribution
What is Axiom 3?
Neutral Elements Exist
What is Axiom 4?
Inverse Elements Exist
What is Axiom 5
there exist at least two elements in x,y in S such that x does not equal y
What is axiom 6?
if elements x and y are members of the set S, then elements x*y and x + y are also members of S
