Q

Occipital bone

A

Forms the back and the base of cranium, and joins the parietal bones at the lambdoidal suture. The bump is called the nuchal line and the inferior portion has a large opening called the foramen magnum, and that’s where the spinal cord passes.

Q

Cervical (7)

A

-C-1 (atlas) articulates the occipital condyles of the skull and moves head as if saying yes

Q

Thoracic (12)

A

Ribs attach and spinous process angles downward

17
Q

Function of the Thoracic cage

A

-Protection of the heart and lungs
-Supports the shoulder girdle and the upper limbs
-Includes the ribs and the sternum

18
Q

Sternum

A

Flat bone, anterior to the heart, 3 bones with fibrocartilage joints.

19
Q

Manubrium

A

The superior part of the sternum. Articulates with the clavicle and the first pair of ribs.

20
Q

Body

A

Middle part of the sternum, articulates with the costal cartilage
