Self-Reliance
The value that each individuals must take the responsibility for themselves.(The cost of “individual freedom”)
Individualism
The belief that the individual has more importance than the group. Individualism values the individual above the group. (This is what the scholar called one of the American values—Individual freedom)
Individual Freedom
The desire and the right of all individuals to control their own destiny without outside interference from government or any other organized authority. (This is more like “a right”. Individualism is the “a concept”)
Equality of Opportunities
The belief that each individual should have an equal chance for success(one of American values)
Inventiness
The spirit on the Frontier to be willing to creat new things
Culture pluralism
The principle that people of different races, religions and political beliefs can live together peacefully in the same society
ethnic diversity
If a country have ethnic diversity, you will find people who speak different languages and have different customs?
Freedom of religion
Each individual has the right to practice their religious beliefs
Protestantism
They broke away from Roman Catholic Church in Europe. They believe that people should be responsible for theirselves to build up relationship with God.
Catholicism
The faith of Catholic Church which believed that priest should be the person who teaches people what is right or wrong
Materialism
Placing high value on material possession
Agnosticism
The belief that people don’t have a chance to find the existence of God
Atheism
The belief that there isn’t any God
The frontier
The land that forms the further extent of a country’s settled or inhabited region
Minority
The smaller part of group or number
