Procedure when giving medication

A

2 crew must together:

  1. Find content checklist/ drug chart of med for use by CC
  2. Check ‘dosage and administration’ & ‘precautions & warnings’
  3. Expiry date
  4. Ask casualty about any allergies, & if taken any medication in the last 24 hours
  5. Ask relevant precautionary questions using medications list & box
  6. Explain how to take the medication
  7. Monitor
  8. Complete relevant documents

To be remembered when giving medication

A
  1. Contact MedLink for advice and authorisation as required
  2. Never give your own medication to anyone else
  3. Never allow medication and equipment to be removed
  4. Never uplift medication or medical equipment onto an aircraft whilst away from base
