Changes with altitude and air temperature
V-A
Maneuvering Speed - max speed with abrupt control travel
V-NO
Maximum Structural Cruising Speed
Max. speed in smooth air
V-S
Stalling Speed
V-S-o
Stall Speed in the Landing Configuration
V-X
Best Angle of Climb:
greatest gain in altitude in the shortest distance
V-Y
Best Rate of Climb: quickest climb (greatest gain in altitude over a given time)
OAT
Outside Air Temperature
Standard Temperature?
15 degrees Celsius
Decreases 2 degrees per 1,000 ft
Pressure Altitude
Altitude read on the altimeter when it’s barometric scale is set to 29.92 inches of mercury
RPM
Static RPM?
Revolutions Per Minute

Basic Empty Weight
Standard Empty Weight plus optional equipment
Useful Load
Ramp Weight - Basic Empty Equipment
i.e. passengers plus baggage
Tare
Weight of chocks & equipment used when weighing the a/c. It’s obviously deducted from the scale reading.
C.G. Limits
Where the C.G. may be located in order to safely operate the a/c
Moment
Weight x Arm
Is usually divided by 1,000 for ease of calculation
Arm
Distance from reference datum
Station
Location among the fuselage.
Reference Datum
Imaginary vertical plane used to measure distances for balance purposes
