What is the difference in feathering between male / female chickens?
Males have more pointed feathers and longer tail feathers
Female feathers are more rounded
What are : Hackle, Sickle, Saddle, Fluff Feathers?
Hackle = neck feather Sickle = Tail feather on male Saddle = back feathers Fluff = fluffy feathering underneath
How can you tell by looking at a chickens feet whether it is a male or female?
Males - longer spurs which continue to grow - get into fights with other males. Females have very small spurs.
What is the keel bone and what are some metabolic issues that may be associated with it?
It is the breastbone, birds in intense operations selected for growth may display calcium insufficiency.
