auxins Flashcards
do plants have auxins only?
no,they also have ethylene gas and abscisic acid
function of receptor site
recivies sunlight and form auxins
what happens to auxins when they are formed?
they move to the cells downward through diffusion
what is the name of the region downward receptor?
respone site/bending region/tropism site
what is the function of auxins
they afect cell elongation that makes the cell bend towards light region
what happens when light touches one side only?
auxins leave the sunny side and goes to the shaded side
mechanism of elongation
auxins bend to cells which stmiulates ph to decrease , then low ph causes cell wall to loosen up so more water enters , then new vacoules are made and they merge rogetherande expand causing elongation ande swelling by increasing turgor pressure on cell wall
boysen jensen control
no auxins are produced and no growth as we cut the growing tip
boysen jensen peramable
auxins will be formed and growth will happen as the gelatin/agar barrier is peremable
boysen jensen impermable
auxins wil be formed but will not diffus as the coca butter/mica sheet is imperamble
importance of auxins
MORFA
man uses it to control pant growth according to his wills
organize tissue devlopment and diffretion
regulate plant growth with inhabtion or activation
flower formation leaf fall fruit formation
affect all physiological funcations of all plant cells and tissues
