Q

key point about genes on an autosome:

A
  • genes on the same autosome are linked

- so they will stay together during independent assortment (so will be inherited together)

Q

what is affected by autosomal linkage? why?

A
  • the expected phenotypic ratio is affected because genes are inherited together
  • therefore they behave more like a monohybrid cross (3:1)

Q

autosomal linkage means offspring have the same genotype and phenotype as parents.
what causes the exception here:

A

crossing over:

  • majority of offspring will have same geno + pheno
  • some will have diff because of crossing over
