8
Q

What will occur with a continued autopilot mode degradation?

A

A/P remains engaged in an attitude stabilising mode initially (degraded mode) followed by the display of an amber line through the associated mode and finally an EICAS message AUTOPILOT.

9
Q

How is the flight director affected by a mode degradation?

A

F/D initially command an attitude stabilising command based on inertial data. If degradation continues, individual F/Ds (roll/pitch) disappear until degradation no longer detected.

Q

With the flight directors OFF, will a TOGA selection cause them to appear?

11
Q

What protections will cause the flight director bars to disappear?

A

• F/D mode failure in either pitch or roll causes the respective F/D bar to disappear. • Stall & overspeed protection functions cause pitch F/D to disappear.

12
Q

During an autoland, will a degradation to LAND 2 be displayed on EICAS?

A

Yes, unless ACFT is BLW 200’ (to limit distraction on short final [transition to NO AUTOLAND is never inhibited]).
EICAS message displayed for any fault which limits capability of the automatic LDG system.

13
Q

What two occasions will cause a green box to appear around an FMA mode?

A

• When a mode is first activated/engaged (green box appears for 10s). • When amber line through a degraded mode is removed (green box appears for 10s).

17
Q

When is TOGA mode armed in flight?

A

Whenever flaps are out or G/S captures.

18
Q

When does ROLLOUT mode engage?

A

BLW 2’ RA on LDG (displayed BLW 1500’ RA).

19
Q

After a TOGA takeoff, what is the maximum speed the pitch mode will command?

A

V2 + 25.

20
Q

Where does the AFDS get the V2 speed; MCP or CDU?

A

AFDS uses the speed set in the MCP IAS/MACH window.

21
Q

When will VNAV engage if armed for takeoff?

A

400’.

22
Q

After an altitude conflict, how is the VNAV ALT mode cancelled?

A

By changing the altitude value set in the MCP ALT window and pushing the ALT selector, or changing the pitch mode.

23
Q

When does the FLARE mode engage?

A

During autoland between 60 – 40’ RA.

24
Q

Can the autothrottle be operated without the flight director or autopilot?

A

Yes (in this condition, A/T operates in THR REF, SPED, HOLD or IDLE modes).

25
Q

When does IDLE mode occur?

A

IDLE displayed when A/T moves thrust levers to idle.

26
Q

Can the autothrottle engage automatically?

A

Yes.

27
Q

Can the autothrottle be engaged if only one servomotor is serviceable?

A

Yes (in this case EICAS will show AUTOTHROTTLE L/R).

28
Q

In which mode will the autothrottle not reposition the thrust levers?

A

HOLD mode.

29
Q

What action causes a normal autothrottle disconnection during landing?

A

When either thrust lever raised to reverse idle.

30
Q

What are the initial TOGA flight director commands upon engagement?

A

• Pitch command is 8o nose up. • Roll command is wings level.

31
Q

During takeoff, when can the TOGA witches be used for autothrottle engagement?

A

Speed < 50kts on T/O roll or ABV 400’ (if not activated by 50kts). (Activates in THR REF mode).

32
Q

What does selection of TOGA above 80kts do?

A

Disarms LNAV & VNAV.

33
Q

What type of altitude is used for LNAV and VNAV engagements?

A

LNAV: 50’ RA.

• VNAV: 400’ ABV RWY ELEV

34
Q

What is the maximum speed commanded after lift off, if an engine fails?

A

V2 + 15.

35
Q

What does a TOGA selection do immediately after takeoff?

A

Removes T/O derates and A/T actives in THR REF.

36
Q

What is the pitch speed command at acceleration altitude?

A

5kts BLW T/O flap placard speed of the commanded flap position.

37
Q

What is the VNAV climb speed when in clean configuration?

A

Speed transition associated with origin airport or VREF + 80, whichever is higher.

38
Q

What is the autothrottle mode for a single push go-‐around?

A

THR.

39
Q

After a go-‐around, when can TOGA be terminated?

A

TOGA mode can be terminated ABV 400’ (if BLW 400’, disconnect A/P and turn off both F/Ds. After automatic LNAV activation, a different roll mode can be selected)

40
Q

After reaching the missed approach altitude, what is the autothrottle mode?

A

SPD.

41
Q

What are the three forms of autopilot envelope protection?

A

• Stall protection. • Overspeed protection. • Bank angle protection
