What is OMR
A
Optic Mark Recognition. It is used to scan forms to detect the position of the marks on forms.
Can be used in lotto tickets, multiple choice exams, football pods

A
- Large amounts of data can be put it quickly
- Less human errors so less mistakes
- Quick to process
- Easy to use

A
- OMR equipment and designed paper is expensive
- Won’t accept creased paper

What is OCR
A
Optical Character Recognition. Used to scan handwritten or typed documents into a word processor.
Used by Royal mail to read postcodes, sort letters, scan handwritten documents

* Typing a handwritten document is unnecessary

- Cannot read creased paper
- Difficult to read poor handwriting

Used by banks for reading magnetic ink
