Domestic

Manufactured in a foreign country and contains more than 50% of foreign produced parts

SUVs
Body style characterized by extended cargo space and seating of a station wagon. Some have 4 doors, others will only have 2 doors.
Vans: Mini
Smaller passenger van
Vans: Conversion
Van that has been converted to accommodate passengers. Frequently, glass parts other than the windshield. door glasses, and back glass are specialized and not in our system
Vans: Cargo
A vehicle body style characterized by large capacity behind the driving compartment. Cargo vans compared to passenger vans, may have no windows behind the driving compartment.

Car with a removable top, can be a hard or soft top.

Specialty Vehicles
There are vehicles, such as tractors and backhoes that do not fit into the categories. Often times the glass for these vehicles are special order. Always check Safelite University on how to proceed.
TYPES OF GLASS / MANUFACTURES
Laminated, Tempered, OE/OEM, and OEE
Laminated
- All windshields of made of laminated glass
- Consisting of a vinyl layer that is “sandwiched” between two pieces of glass
- Safety Features: “keeps objects out and people in”
Tempered (Rescue Glass)
- All glass, other than the windshield, is usually made of tempered glass.
- Safety Feature: When tempered glass breaks, it shatters into many small smooth edged pieces
OEM / OE: Original Equipment (Dealer Glass)
- Made for replacement purposes.
- Installed on the manufactures assembly line.

OEE: Original Equipment Equivalent (Aftermarket)
- Made for replacement purposes
- Made of the exact same materials and meet the same federal standard as the OE
- Safelite no longer manufactures OEE windshield.
Helpful Hint
If the insured requests OE/OEM, there will be special exceptions depending on the insurance client. The OEM parts may not always be approved. Please check Safelite University for the account specific information.
Safelite Warranty
Safelite offers customers a warranty for as long as they own or lease the vehicle. The replacement warranty protects customers against poor workmanship or any defective product DOES NOT TRANSFER OWNERSHIP
Tint
The overall tint of the glass. We will NEVER select clear glass
Tint colors
P - Privacy B - Blue G - Green Y - Gray Z - Bronze C - Clear
Shade
Refers to the shade band at the top of the windshield only
Shade Colors
B - Blue G - Green Y - Gray Z - Bronze T - No shade
White Paper Test
If the customer is unsure of the color of the glass, a white piece of paper can be placed behind a door glass to verify the color.`
