What criteria must be met for an Auto Enrolment scheme?

Answer 1

• It must not require a workers consent to join
• A worker must not be required to provide any info or make choices when joining
• It must allow a worker to join from day 1 of employment
• Minimum contribution levels must be paid into the scheme
• Worker contributions must be deducted through payroll
• The provider must confirm the scheme can be used for auto-enrolment purposes

Question 2

What are the minimum contribution levels required for each of the 3 tiers?

Answer 2

Tier 1:- 9% of basic pay with min 4% employer

Tier 2:- 8% of basic pay with min 3% employer (where an average across the scheme 85% of earnings are pensionable)

Tier 3:- 7% of all earnings with min 3% employer
