Auto-antibodies Flashcards
Anti-nuclear Antibody
ssDNA

Cardiolipin
Centromere
dsDNA
Presence of high-titer anti–double-stranded (DS) antibodies is not specific for drug-induced lupus, with the exception of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) induced by anti–tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents (adalimumab, infliximab, and etanercept). In anti–TNF agent induced SLE, anti-DSDNA antibodies may be present in up to 90% of the cases. Some patients who develop anti–TNF agent induced lupus have been successfully switched to a different anti–TNF agent without recurrence.

Classic: gottron papules, gottron sign, shawl sign

Anti-TIF1 antibodies are associated with severe photosensitive cutaneous findings, palmar hyperkeratosis, psoriasiform dermatitis, and the development of solid and hematologic malignancies.
Also associated w/ cutaneous symptoms (heliotrope, Gottron’s, flagellate erythema)
RNA polymerase
Ro/SSA
Also seen in SCLE w/ photosensitivity

DM - severe proximal muscle weakness
Synthetase
U1RNP
ECM1 (extracellular matrix protein 1)
Lichen sclerosis (correlates with disease activity)
Myositis antibodies
Jo1
Target: directed against the histidyl-tRNA synthetase which catalyses the binding of the histidine to its cognate tRNA during protein synthesis
Dermatomyositis with pulmonary fibrosis, Raynaud’s, polyarthritis
Complement deficiencies
