What are pesticides?
Chemical substances used to kill harmful insects, small animals, wild plants, and other unwanted organisms.
What are fertilizers?
Natural or chemical substances that are spread on the land or given to plants to make them grow well.
What is starvation?
The state of having no food for a long period, often causing death.
What does dramatic mean?
Very sudden or noticeable.
What does hazardous mean?
Dangerous.
What is adoption?
Accepting or starting to use something new.
What are strains?
Animals or plants from a particular group whose characteristics are different in some way from others of the same group.
What are pheromones?

What is a blunt instrument?
A thing, person, method, or resource which is not sufficiently precise or not sufficiently effective for its intended role or use.
What is resistance in biology?

What does efficacy mean?
The ability to produce the intended result (especially of a medicine or a method of achieving something).
What is fermentation?
A metabolic process that produces chemical changes in organic substrates through the action of enzymes. In biochemistry, it is narrowly defined as the extraction of energy from carbohydrates in the absence of oxygen.
What is protein?
Any of a class of nitrogenous organic compounds which have large molecules composed of one or more long chains of amino acids and are an essential part of all living organisms, especially as structural components of body tissues such as muscle, hair, etc., and as enzymes and antibodies.
What is an antibody?
A protein produced in the blood that fights diseases by attacking and killing harmful bacteria, viruses, etc.
What is a regulatory pathway?
Series of steps or actions (determined by a regulatory body) which must be completed to legally bring a product (such as a new drug) to market.
