  1. CONTRADICTIONS > “eye for an eye” vs “turn the other cheek”
  2. DIFFICULT TO INTERPRET > diff people will have different conclusions from the same text, what is literal?
  3. Translation errors > Red Sea vs Reed Sea, meaning of words may be translated from Latin
    “destroy the amaklites” destroy was “herem” in greek which means “turn yourself to God”

Authoritative problems with Bible (3)

A

Old T : full of contradictions ( creation in Genesis story )
New T : Written in Greek (Not Jesus’ language) therefore could be mistranslation?
Plus NT was also agreed by Church way after Jesus’ death which means they decided what Gospels to keep/not.
How do we know they chose right ones?

  1. God can only be reached through Christianity and other religions are humanity’s attempt to reach God ( islam, judaism…) but God can only reach us through Christianity and us him making it an exclusive religion.
  2. Jesus is the forgiven of sins and through him we feel the presence of God.
  3. God doesnt reveal himself in the Bible: God is revealed through Jesus who is the Word in flesh and should be worshipped
