In 1910- 1970, kids of the surviving nations were given to white families to raise in an effort to assimilate.
Aboriginals could only vote in 1962 and were officially recognized as part of the population in 1967.

A

In 1990, the rust-coloured rock was named Ayers Rock / Uluru to acknowledge its name as known by the Anangu people to whom this is a sacred site.
This was switched to Uluru/Ayers Rock in 2002.
