AURORA Flashcards
Aurora DIsk Recovery
Aurora is self Healing and does not require PIT recovery or Backup and restore.
Aurora RR
Aurora can have up to 15 read replicas, and each replica is promoted into a write node in less than a second. Super fast failover
Aurora storage Billing
Automatic, you dont get to select storage and billing type.
only uses SSD
Aurora Bills you for the Peak Transient of your storage. So even if you free up storage, you will still be billed for the Once Peak that you hit.
To save cost, create a new cluster
Storage which is freed up can be re-used(since it’s already being billed for)
Aurora Storage Architecture for speed
Aurora Storage is attached to the Cluster and not the Instance, hence, Faiover and other node swapping is Super fast.
- Replicas can be added and removed without requiring storage provisioning.
Aurora Reader/Writer Endpoint
Writer Endpoint is always pointed at the Primary Instance. Reader endpoint points at a RR and Load balanced across all RR
Aurora Free Tier
NO FREE-TIER
It doesn’t use any of the Micro-Instances
Aurora Backup Cost
Free and = to storage bought
Aurora Restore
Aurora Restore creates a new Cluster(like RDS).
Aurra Back-Track
Rollback-in-place. Works like system restore. Like Rewind
Aurora Serverless
- Infrequently used applications
- New applications
- Variable workloads
- Unpredictable workloads
- Development and test databases
- Multi-tenant applications
Aurora Global
Cross-Region DR and BC
* Global Read Scaling - low latency performance improvements
* ~1s or less replication between regions
* No impact on DB performance
* Secondary regions can have 16 replicas
* .. Can be promoted to R/W
* Currently MAX 5 secondary regions…
