There was a loos of harmony and cupiditas replaces caritas
The harmony that god created is broken as Adam and Eve hide from god and then blame eachother

Why does Augustine say cupiditas has taken over us
Due to the shame felt over sex is evidence that cupiditas has taken over us
Explain original sin
It’s not an action but part of human nature, original sin says were born corrupt, damaged broken and disharmious
How is original sin passed on?
Adam and Eve began with the sin and passed it on through sexual intercourse, every act of sex is tainted with lust after the fall its infected with concupiscence
Quote to explain how the divided will affects us
“I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but the very thing I hate”
Our selfishness has taken over
How has original sin affected society?
Our friendships are poisoned with selfishness. Lack of harmony makes us think about ourselves not the needs of the population.
How does Gods grace help us?
Allows us to overcome sin and achieve the greatest good
It’s the only way to be freed from the consequences of original sin
what does Augustine mean by ‘captive free Will’
Our captive free will is weighted in favour of sin but grace can remove the weights.
Grace can restore our ability to make right decisions
